2017 Earth Day Fair & Parade

Saturday, April 22, 2017

The Parade will start at 11:30 a.m. in downtown Bend. The parade ends at the Earth Day Fair.

The Fair will feature live music, art, local businesses, a variety of food, interactive displays and great hands-on activities for all ages. The fair takes place on Kansas Avenue in front of The Environmental Center (downtown Bend).

Be sure to stop by the Bend Garbage & Recycling and Deschutes Recycling booth! The activities will be going on until 3:00 p.m.

New Product at Deschutes Recycling, Premium Ground Cover

Deschutes Recycling is offering a new product, Premium Ground Cover.

Premium Ground Cover is an attractive ground cover comprised of compost wood. The wood is reground and screened to 5/8". Premium Ground Cover provides water retention and weed blocking cover.

During Deschutes Recycling's Compost Sale (April 1 - 30, 2017), they will be offering Premium Ground Cover at an introductory rate of $16/yard which is 40% off the normal rate of $28/yard.

Free "Bring Your Own Bucket" Event at Newport Avenue Market

Newport Avenue Market and Deschutes Recycling are sponsoring the annual "Bring Your Own Bucket" Event.

When: Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. while supplies last

Where: Newport Avenue Market, 1121 NW Newport Avenue, Bend

Customers are invited to come down to Newport Avenue Market and bring their own 5 gallon bucket to fill with Deschutes Recycling's ReGrow compost for free (while supplies last).

ReGrow compost is a nutrient rich product made from locally recycled yard trimmings, recycled food and vegetable trimmings. ReGrow compost is a perfect supplement to the sandy Central Oregon soils.

Cubic Foot Bags of ReGrow will also be available for sale.

SecureShred will offer a free residential shred event on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Ameriprise in Bend. Ameriprise is located at 214 SE Vine Street.

This free shred event is intended for residential shredding only, no commercial or business shredding provided. There is no cost to the public for up to 4 medium size boxes of personal documents. No sorting necessary, staples and paperclips are fine. Please remember no plastic bags accepted.

This free event is intended for residential shredding only, no commercial or business shredding provided. There is no cost to the public for up to 4 medium size boxes of personal documents.
