Christmas Tree Recycling Options

For information regarding Christmas tree collections with the Boy Scouts, click on the Bend Garbage & Recycling newsletter link at www.bendgarbage.com.

For Bend Garbage & Recycling customers who require a Christmas tree pick up after January 10, Bend Garbage & Recycling will collect trees on the customer's garbage day the week of January 11 - 15 for a $5 charge. Customers need to set the tree out next to their roll cart on their garbage day and trees free of tinsel and flocking will be recycled.

For Bend Garbage & Recycling city customers with curbside yard debris service, they can recycle their Christmas tree in their yard debris cart. Trees need to be cut down to 3 or 4 smaller pieces so they can fit it in the yard debris cart.

Another option for recycling your Christmas Tree:
At no charge Deschutes Recycling, located at Knott Landfill, will take Christmas trees Monday - Sunday, through January 31. Other locations include Negus Transfer Station in Redmond, Northwest Transfer Station between Tumalo and Sisters, and Southwest Transfer Station located between Sunriver and La Pine. Contact the Department of Solid Waste for hours at 541-317-3163. Trees cannot have tinsel or flocking.

Bend Garbage & Recycling Offers New Service for E-Waste Collection


Beginning January 1, 2010 - computers (desktops & laptops), monitors and TVs cannot be disposed of in the garbage or at disposal sites such as landfills.

Residents can still bring these items to Deschutes Recycling, located at Knott Landfill, 61050 SE 27th Street in Bend for recycling at no charge.

In addition, Bend Garbage & Recycling is offering a new service and will come out to the household and collect the e-waste items such as TVs, computers and monitors.

Bend Garbage & Recycling's Holiday Collection Schedule

Bend Garbage & Recycling collects on all holidays except for Christmas Day and New Years Day. This year, only Friday customers will be affected by the holiday schedule.

Regular garbage and recycling collection on Friday for both holiday weeks (12/25 & 1/1) will be one day late and will be serviced on Saturday (12/26 & 1/2).

Customers need to have their carts out by 6:00 a.m.

Bend Garbage & Recycling's office will be closed on Christmas Day and New Years Day and will re-open the following Monday of both weeks at 8:00 a.m.

Bend Garbage & Recycling's Office will close early on December 4th

Bend Garbage & Recycling's Office located at 20835 NE Montana Way in Bend will be closing at 3pm on Friday, December 4th, 2009.

The office will re-open on Monday morning, December 7th at 8:00 a.m.

City Yard Debris Collection Service is On-Call for December & January

For Bend Garbage & Recycling's city yard debris customers, yard debris collection will be an on-call service for the months of December 2009 and January 2010.

Customers need to call Bend Garbage & Recycling whenever their yard debris cart is full to schedule a pick up for the following Friday. Customers still receive up to two collections per month.

Yard debris every-other-week collection service will resume in February 2010.
