Free Appliance Recycling Event

The annual appliance recycling event held by Deschutes County Solid Waste is scheduled for:

When: Saturday, August 16th, 2014, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Where: Knott Landfill - 61050 SE 27th Street, Bend

Acceptable appliances include: air conditioners, dishwashers, dryers, furnaces, freezers*, heat pumps, ovens, refrigerators*, stoves, trash compactors*, washers and water heaters.

*Items noted with an asterisk will not be accepted if they contain food or food residue.

Free Household Hazardous Waste Collection in Sisters

Free Household Hazardous Waste collection event in Sisters.

August 23rd 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
Sisters High School - 1700 McKinney Butte Rd.
West side of Reed Stadium

Household items accepted will include: rechargeable batteries, fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, fluorescent light bulbs/tubes, cleaning products & poisons, fuels & thinners, aerosols, oil filters & antifreeze, automotive chemicals, pool & spa chemicals, mercury items, paint & stain.

Items NOT accepted: business generated hazardous waste, explosives, fireworks, ammunition, gas cylinders, radioactive and bio-hazardous waste.

Help Support CAN Cancer at the Deschutes County Rodeo

Friday, August 1, 2014 - Deschutes County Rodeo is supporting CAN Cancer by helping us raise money at the rodeo on Friday night.

CAN Cancer volunteers will pass purple garbage cans throughout the stands asking spectators to donate their spare change.

CAN Cancer provides assistance to help cover non-medical living expenses for Central Oregonians fighting all forms of cancer. 100% of the funds raised goes to the patient. Over $152,994 has been raised by our communities, helping 650 local Central Oregon families.

COCC Meals for Miles Event Benefits CAN Cancer

Thanks  to COCC and everyone who came to support CAN Cancer at the 2nd annual Meals for Miles event.

$8,000 was raised for CAN Cancer at the event. CAN Cancer, Community Assistance for Neighbors with Cancer, was founded by your Central Oregon garbage haulers. 100% of all donations stay local and help Central Oregon families pay for the often overlooked expenses that add up so quickly while receiving cancer treatment, including fuel, travel, and food costs.

Normal Operations on Friday, July 4, 2014


Bend Garbage & Recycling will be operating on a normal collection schedule on Independence Day, Friday, July 4, 2014.

Customers who have garbage and recycling collection service on Friday's should have their carts out by 6:00 am or the night before.

The Bend Garbage & Recycling office will be closed on Independence Day, Friday, July 4, 2014 and will reopen Monday, July 7, 2014 at 8:00 am.

Bend Garbage & Recycling collects on all holidays except for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
