Let's Pull Together Event


Let's Pull Together is a noxious weed eradication event consisting of collaborative partnerships with city and county governments, park, school and irrigation districts, neighborhood and homeowners associations, the forest service and state parks, local businesses and our incredible volunteers all join together for good times and clean country (city) living.

When: Saturday June 8th, 2013 
Meet at your preferred weed pull site at 9 am for group orientation and identification training with weed experts. Complimentary festivities for volunteers will follow in each community at high noon.


How to get involved:  Bring your weeding tool of choice, your friends, your family, your group and join in. Meet at any one of the locations on June 8th, 2013.  

Site coordinators and on-site noxious weed experts will assist you in identifying native plants and noxious weeds.  Sites are Family Friendly for children of all ages, and for adult of all physical ability levels. Mobile/Walking groups will depart meet-at location after orientation

Free Residential Shred in Sunriver

On Saturday, June 1st , 2013, from 9am - 12pm, the Sunriver Police Department will sponsor it's second annual shredding and prescription medication drop-off event in the front parking lot of the Sunriver Police Department, located at 57455 Abbot Drive.

SecureShred, a division of Bend Garbage & Recycling will be collecting and shredding personal documents.  This event is intended for personal residential document shredding and drug disposal, not for business or company disposal.   

No advance document sorting is necessary as shredding equipment can destroy paperwork with paper clips and staples attaches.  File folders may also be shredded.

The event is free to the public. Please consider bringing a donation of non-perishable food to benefit Care and Share, a local non-profit organization that provides food to local families.

If you have a large amount of yard debris or want to work together as a neighborhood, consider renting a drop box during the FireFree event May 3 - May 11, 2013.

Drop box loads of clean brush, limbs, grass, leaves, pine needles, and weeds can be recycled for free during the FireFree event at Knott Landfill.

We deliver the container, you load it up and we haul it away. It’s that easy!  Loads must be free of rocks, dirt, plastic bags and garbage to qualify for free disposal.

SecureShred will destroy documents right on site.  Paper clips, staples and  folders are okay.  All shredded material will be recycled.

Free Yard Debris Recycling

Residents can recycle yard debris for free at Knott Landfill and the following Transfer Stations during the FireFree event.  Yard debris must be clean; no rocks, dirt, garbage or plastic bags. Please cover your loads.

Free Shred Days with State Farm Insurance

In today's world we should all be concerned about identity theft so James Chrisman's Office wants to provide you with something that everyone needs... free shred days.

Now through April 26 their office is hosting free shredding for your personal documents.

From 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday, they will take one file box for shredding.

James Chrisman has partnered with SecureShred, a division of Bend Garbage & Recycling, to provide a safe method for disposing of personal documents.  Documents will be safely placed in a locking cart and will be shredded with the SecureShred on-site document destruction truck.  All shredded material will be recycled.

They are accept in-kind donations to Devin's Destiny, a local non-profit supporting homeless children throughout Central Oregon.  An organization dedicated to supplying kids with simple childlike pleasures such as a birthday celebration.

Celebrate Earth Day

The Bend Earth Day Fair and Procession of the Species is Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 11:00am  - 3:00 p.m. The event takes place in front of the Environmental Center at 16 NW Kansas Avenue in Bend.

The colorful and creative Procession of the Species, filled with children and adults costumed in their favorite species and earth elements will kick of the day at 11:00 a.m.  After the parade enjoy interactive displays, art, live music and hands-on activities for all ages.

While you're there, make sure to stop by the Bend Garbage & Recycling booth.
